Dad’s BBQ is a dream come true for Dennis Ray Hicks, Sr.  Although he wasn’t much of a cook growing up, his special dish, known by his children, was homemade hamburger helper with ingredients including ground beef, pork and beans.  Known as Dad growing up, Dennis married Etta Delitha Hicks 45 years ago and his cooking skills have greatly improved!  The family has been running restaurants since 1999. Dad’s first location opened in Oakland on September 1, 1999.  Approximately a year after opening, Dad’s established the largest barbecue catering truck in the Bay Area. Dad’s catered to the Oakland School District, Fremont High School, Nextel Telephone Company, San Quentin Prison and the S.F. 49er’s Football Team.   Dad’s relocated the business to Old Town Pittsburg in 2005.  Dad is thankful to all his supporters and there are MORE DADS’ B.B.Q.
